Southeast Edmonton, established as a residential region of Edmonton in 2005, is an expansive mixture of rural, residential, and industrial areas. Leafy trails that wind through the woods are popular with joggers and bicycling enthusiasts. Residents love the green spaces perfect for outdoor recreation. Summerside

If your dream is a home on the water, Summerside is the ideal community. Summerside is one of Southeast Edmonton’s most popular areas. The neighborhood has a sandy beach and is one of the most popular neighborhoods in Southeast Edmonton. The community is perfect for families who want to be close to Downtown while living a leisurely beach lifestyle. Summerside features lush, green spaces for recreational activities. The area on the artificial lake features tennis courts and playgrounds. Professional services, shopping, and dining are conveniently located at Mill Woods and South Edmonton Common.

Walker

Walker is located on the far, southern side of Southeast Edmonton. The community features pre-owned houses and new development and is an excellent choice for growing families. Many new homes are spacious with an open concept. Recreation and most amenities are just steps from residents’ front doors. The neighborhood is designed for walkability. The green space features two ponds and paths for cycling and walking. A commercial district with shopping, professional services, and dining is under development.

Ellerslie

Ellerslie is a beautiful waterfront neighborhood featuring high-end, custom homes. The homes are primarily single-family. However, the neighborhood also features affordable, apartment-style townhomes, rowhouses, and duplexes. Residents have access to boat docks, several playgrounds, and many green spaces.

Charlesworth

Charlesworth is a vibrant neighborhood with mid-price homes that are affordable for young families. Half duplexes, townhomes, and condos make up a considerable number of available homes. Newer homes are spacious and have plenty of space to grow. High-end properties are located in neighborhood subdivisions include stone fireplaces, vaulted ceilings, spacious lofts, and gourmet-style kitchens.

Silver Berry

Silver Berry is in Millwoods, to the southeast of Edmonton. The neighborhood is in the Meadows region near Whitemud Drive. The majority of the homes in this newer neighborhood are single-family. However, there are rowhouses and duplexes. Most of the houses are owner-occupied. The contemporary homes are affordable for young families and feature expansive spaces, high ceilings, and garages.

Millwoods

Located in Southeast Edmonton and made up of 24 small communities that comprise the entire region, Mill Woods real estate is one of the most popular destinations for Edmonton families. Mill Woods is a unique neighborhood since it was one of the first to establish a system of streets that inhibits the flow of traffic. The concept of planning the roads in a curvilinear pattern is an alternative to the established grid pattern of most neighborhood streets. Mill Woods features high-end real estate and a lifestyle geared toward families, making available homes an excellent investment.

Southeast Edmonton Public and Private Schools

Edmonton has an excellent school system consisting of public and private schools. Each neighborhood in Southeastern Edmonton has a public school designated for that neighborhood. Parents have the option to petition to have their child placed in a different school that fits their needs. Here are some of the highest rated schools:

Blair McPherson School

Blair McPherson is an all-inclusive school that focuses on the individual needs of each student. Teachers utilize teaching methods to help each child excel. The staff focuses on using technology and helping students to connect as global citizens.

Crawford Plains School

Parents who want their children to speak French and English should consider Crawford Plains School. Students are taught academic courses and develop French language skills. The school’s location is near the Laurel Crossing and Tamarack Crossing neighborhoods. Crawford Plains recently introduced the French language program to the curriculum and is currently available to new students enrolling at the school.

Father Michael Mireau

The Catholic school is near the Orchards neighborhood and offers kindergarten through 9th grade. Teachers focus on making each child feel like part of a community and use learning styles to suit each student’s needs. The school is inclusive and features a variety of extracurricular activities.

J. Percy Page

J. Percy Page is Southeast Edmonton’s public high school. The school offers traditional classes and career technology courses in mechanics, computer studies, and aviation. J. Percy Page High School also offers a program for students to study as apprentices while they’re learning a trade.

Jan Reimer School

Jan Reimer is a closed boundary school and accepts students from the Orchards neighborhood. The program focuses on developing each student’s academic skills and diversity. The school accepts kindergarten through ninth-grade students and has an excellent reputation in the community.

Mary Hanley Catholic Elementary School

Mary Henley is a private Catholic school with small class sizes. Students get a lot of individual attention to help them excel academically, spiritually, emotionally, and socially. The school is known for its excellent music program and classes in its outdoor classroom.

Minchau School

Minchau School offers a unique program. The traditional curriculum is designed for students with higher than average intelligence and learning disabilities. The school also provides programs for students that have behavior challenges.

Rising Scholars Montesorri

This preschool uses the traditional Montesorri teaching methods with a hands-on approach to subjects including literacy, language, science, and math. The school is in Ellerslie, making it convenient for parents and children in the Orchards.

Tipaskan School

This school enrolls students in kindergarten through sixth grade with French as a second language option. The school offers a unique program that allows students to have leadership positions. Another benefit is that the school works with children with autism.

Grey Nuns Hospital

The Grey Nuns Community Hospital offers a wide range of health services to the diverse Southeast Edmonton community. Among the services the healthcare facility provides are:
